Inventor's Workshop
Look at your world through innovator’s eyes! Develop the skills to invent, design, build and test your ideas, then work with a team to dismantle devices and create totally new inventions.
Lego Robotics*
Step into the future as you learn the basics of designing, constructing and programming your own robots. Use Lego Mindstorm NXT software and Technic building pieces to create robots that can retrieve objects and battle other robots.
Music and Technology*
Become a digital music maestro as you learn about composition, sequencing and sampling. Use GarageBand, keyboards, drum pads and more to create your own original musical pieces!
Video Game Design*
In a studio setting, learn the basics of programming and design, then collaborate with a partner to build a unique game with your own distinctive characters, backdrops and rules of play.
OUT OF THIS WORLD: SPACE SCIENCE
Rocket Lab
Set your sights on the stars as you design, build and launch your own rocket! Learn about forces and energy, investigate different types of rocket fuel and use Newton's laws and the principles of aerodynamics to blast off your own designs.
Space Challenger (rising 3rd - 5th grades)*
Explore the depths of the universe through the telescopes on Chabot's observation deck, the Challenger Learning Center® and your imagination! Investigate the moon’s surface and learn about travel to space as you lift off on a unique spacecraft experience.
Space Challenger (rising 5th - 7th grades)*
Use the telescopes on Chabot’s observation deck, the Challenger Learning Center® and your imagination to get hands on with space science. Become a critical member of the mission control or spacecraft team and experience the "Return to the Moon" Mission Simulator!
DOWN TO EARTH: OUTDOOR & EARTH SCIENCE
Climate Quest
Explore solar, wind and water energy to find out how easy it is to be green! Learn about the latest alternative energy technologies as you explore Bill Nye's Climate Lab, then innovate designs that make the Earth a greener place.
Outdoor Challenges
Embark on an outdoor adventure through the redwood forest! Build self-reliance and awareness as you learn the skills of survival and wilderness safety, plus tackle team-building challenges, exciting outdoor games and energizing hikes.
Outdoor Exploration
Investigate the world outside and get in tune with nature. Take naturalist hikes through the redwoods to learn about the habitats and organisms that make up the regional park around you, plus take part in fun active games under the trees!
